To help identify today’s urban challenges and ensure the relevance of the themes of the INTA34 Congress, to take place in San Sebastian, Basque Country, Spain, from 24-28 October 2010, INTA’s Governing Board decided to consult a Scientific Committee composed of INTA members from both public and private corporations and renowned research institutions.
The Scientific Committee met for the first time on 23 and 24 January in San Sebastian, where the local partners of the Congress have guided the members around the regeneration sites. The case of San Sebastian will be used in the Congress to illustrate global ideas.
The Committee outlined the main themes of the INTA34 Congress that will carry new concepts of development of urban regions: vulnerability and complexity of governance in an environment of territorial competition; growth of large communication infrastructures and mobility; new spaces of production of industry, services or knowledge; service networks for better integration between urban projects and territories.
"Mobilizing your Urban Region"
Under this title, which is an invitation to mobilize the strengths of the urban area, the Congress will provide an opportunity for exchanges on the economic and technical factors that will change the dynamics of urban development.
The Scientific Commitee members will have a strong involvement in the preparation of position papers and Congress proceedings allowing INTA members to use the conclusions of the debates in their professional practices.

The Scientific Committee is invited to the World Urban Development Council, INTA’s permanent think tank that meets once a year, just before the Annual Congress, to which key thinkers are invited to discuss key issues in a balanced urban development approach. The World Urban Development Council (WUDC) has already met in Riga and Taiwan and will meet again next October 24 in San Sebastian, before the Congress.

L'INTA se dote d'un Comité Scientifique pour le congrès INTA34
Afin de mieux cerner les enjeux futurs et l'évolution de l'action publique et privée dans le développement urbain et de les inscrire dans le le contenu thématique du Congrès annuel, qui se tiendra à San Sebastian -dans la province de Gipuzkoa au pays basque espagnol du 24 au 28 octobre 2010, le Conseil d'administration de l'INTA a installé un Comité scientifique consultatif. Ce comité est composé d'un nombre variable de praticiens et d'universitaires membres de l'INTA selon les questions soulevées.
Il s'est réuni pour la première fois, les 23 et 24 janvier dernier à San Sebastian - où les partenaires locaux du Congrès ont guidé les membres autour des sites de régénération. San Sebastian servira de cas d'étude à des problématiques plus globales.
Le Comité scientifique a esquissé les axes et thèmes du programme INTA34 qui porteront sur une nouvelle conception du développement des régions urbaines : vulnérabilité et complexité de la gouvernance dans un environnement de concurrence territoriale ; évolution des grandes infrastructures de communication et de mobilité ; nouveaux lieux de production industrielle, de services ou de connaissance ; réseaux de services pour une meilleure intégration des projets urbains et des territoires.
"Mobiliser votre région urbaine"
Sous ce titre, qui invite à la mobilisation des atouts de la région urbaine, le Congrès sera l'occasion d'échanges sur les facteurs économiques et techniques qui changeront les dynamiques de développement urbain.
Les membres du CS auront une implication forte dans la préparation des "position papers" et des actes du Congrès permettant ainsi aux délégués INTA34 d'utiliser les conclusions des débats dans leurs pratiques professionnelles.

Le Conseil d'administration de l'INTA a décidé, voici 2 ans, de se réunir, une fois par an, juste avant son Congrès annuel, en formation élargie à des personnalités extérieures invitées à débattre des grands enjeux urbains dans une logique de développement équitable et maîtrisé. Cette formation dénommée Conseil mondial du développement urbain (CMDU) s'est déjà réunie à Riga et à Taiwan et se retrouvera le 24 octobre prochain à San Sebastian, en ouverture du Congrès. Le Comité scientifique sera invité à y participer
