After the first international meeting at INTA36 World Congress in Paris on "Metropolitan strategy: towards a productive metropolis?", the In-between programme will explore the specfic aspect of "the influence of innovation on the metropolitan scale".

During the first phase of the programme a series of interviews have been realised to several metropolitan cases covering various themes: the scale of the metropolitan area, the governance and cooperation, new forms of urbanity and metropolitan environments, the innovative economical sectors within the metropolitan area and how to develop the metropolis sustainably.
Interviews with representatives from London, Paris, Jakarta, Medellin, Bangkok, Grenoble, Cotonou and Lima have been already published on the website. More cases as Bordeaux, Turin, Kuala Lumpur and The Randstad will be published soon.


In the OFF program of 5PlusCityForum, INTA organised an international exchange on the subject of the influence of innovation on the metropolitan dimension: an International roundtable on "How to interconnect or compose key innovation projects or policies to strengthen a metropolitan region?"

THEMES OF THE MEETING
1/ How could local innovation clusters or policies boost the implementation or development of a metropolitan strategy?
 
2/ What are the advantages and disadvantages of a regional governance, towards local issues and global economy, when developing innovation clusters or policies?
 
3/ Who are the partners when developing a local innovation clusters or policies and how to maintain the development when co-operations and partners are changing during development?

The resilient region project presented by representatives of the Province of South Holland, in The Netherlands and cases of Grenoble, Greater Lyon and Taipei helped initiate a discussion on practical experiences.
